Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Eduardo believes he deserves
his move to Chelsea as the 33-year-old edges ever
closer to joining the Blues.
Antonio Conte has been on the lookout for a third
goalkeeper this summer to provide cover for Thibaut
Courtois and Asmir Begovic.
The pair were both hit with injuries last season and it led
to former manager Jose Mourinho signing up
experienced Italian Marco Amelia.
After his departure, Conte has since turned to Portugal
international Eduardo, who was with the Selecao at Euro
2016 as Fernando Santos’ side got their hands on the big
trophy.
After playing for the majority of his career in his home
country – Eduardo has also had spells in Turkey and
Italy – the goalkeeper feels it is about time his big switch
came along.
“At the same time I am happy and sad,” Eduardo told
Dinamo’s official website, after helping them qualify for
the group stages of the Champions League this week.
“This was a beautiful story, but I got a chance to go to a
big club. It is the opportunity of lifetime and I think I
deserve it.
“I am leaving Dinamo with the club qualified for the
Champions League and I am thrilled with that success. I
hope people will remember me in Zagreb as a person
that always gave his best for the club and the fans and
that everyone will keep a nice memory of me.
“I sure will have great memories of Dinamo and Zagreb
and all people I played and worked with here.”
