Koscielny voted Arsenal Player of the Month for August

France defender Laurent Koscielny has been named
as the first Player of the Month of the 2016/17
season at Arsenal.
The France international was in outstanding form as
he captained the side in the goalless draw at
Leicester City and the 3-1 win at Watford.
Koscielny won 35.6 per cent of the votes cast,
narrowly edging out his new defensive partner, Rob
Holding, into second place. Alexis - who scored once
and claimed two assists - at Vicarage Road was in
third.
Since his return to club football after an extended
leave following his participation the 2016 Euros , the
Frenchman has developed a positive partnership
with new signing from Bolton Rob Holding.
The duo played their first game together against
Leicester City, helping Arsène Wenger’s side keep a
clean sheet at King Power Stadium and the reliable
centre-half believes their blend of youth and
experience can give the Gunners the defensive
stability they need to succeed this season.
Meanwhile there were concerns for the 30-year old
after another back problem forced him off during
France’s friendly against Italy.
Although it’s reassuring that he is expected to play,
perhaps even start, their World Cup qualifier against
Belarus on Tuesday, the injury appearing at all
sends a warning signal to Arsenal and the fans will
hope their Player of the month returns to the
Emirates without any worries.
